Services set for boxer who died after bout

CHICAGO (AP) - November 29, 2009

Visitation for 25-year-old Francisco Rodriguez will be held Monday at a funeral home in the Chicago suburb of Forest Park. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday in Chicago.

Rodriguez died last week after losing a USBA super bantamweight bout against Teon Kennedy.

Officials say he began to lose consciousness as he sat in his corner after the fight was stopped in the 10th round. He later underwent emergency brain surgery.

Rodriguez was 14-2 going into the bout against Kennedy for the vacant USBA super bantamweight title. He was a former national Golden Gloves boxing champion.

His family has donated his organs to five recipients, including a relative who needs a kidney transplant.
