It happened outside the Regal Cinemas in the Brandywine Shopping Center on Quarry Road in Downingtown, Pa. around 11:54 a.m.
The armored car was making a pick-up when the lone bandit struck.
Police say the suspect came up to the guard and demanded money, at which point the guard dropped a bag of cash.
The robber then grabbed the bag and fled on foot.
No one was hurt during the robbery. Police have released a sketch of the suspect in this case.
