NJ Sen. Frank Lautenberg going back to work

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - February 28, 2010

The 86-year-old Democrat, who has been receiving chemotherapy since being diagnosed with curable lymphoma of the stomach, was discharged from the hospital Thursday.

Lautenberg will attend the weekly Congressional Democratic Caucus lunch Tuesday and participate in Congressional votes that day.

"I want to vote," he told The Star-Ledger of Newark. "It's like the batter swinging the bat. You can't play the game unless you swing the bat."

Lautenberg, the senate's second-oldest member, was initially hospitalized Feb. 15 after his office said he fell at his Cliffside Park home.

The following day he was treated for a bleeding ulcer, and it was announced Feb. 19 that the B-cell lymphoma was found in the ulcer.
