Authorities tell Action News that around 5:30 a.m. the driver of a SUV ran into the rear of a flatbed truck trapping the driver inside. Firefighters worked for approximately 45 minutes to free the teen driver from the crumpled wreckage.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Francis Mole from the 4900 block of Cottage Street, was taken to St Christopher's where he later died. The 24-year-old female front seat passenger and the 17-year-old male rear seat passenger were both taken to St Christopher's where they were treated and released.
Police say none of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
