Bunnies rescued from path of lawnmower

COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. - April 26, 2010

Fortunately, friends Michaela and Drew were there to rescue the 10 bunnies in Collingswood.

The little animals were found in a friend's yard and abandoned by their mother.

"At first we put a bunch of grass from the lawnmower around them so they would be safe, but the mother didn't come back," Drew said.

One of the bunnies was injured by the lawnmower, and has a few cuts to his ears, but they all seem to be doing okay otherwise.

Drew says he has experience with orphaned animals so he and Michaela are feeding the bunnies with bottles every few hours, and making sure they're well protected.

Michaela is even keeping a few of the bunnies in her shirt. It keeps them warm, and lets them feel a heartbeat that reminds them of their mother.
