The Florida high school senior has been wearing the same pair of sneakers since he was a freshman.
The football captain says it started as a bet with his Spanish teacher.
The loser would have to shave his head and eyebrows.
But Ben says wearing the same sneaks helped him worry less about what other people might think of him.
It also inspired his senior class project on what shapes our perception of others.
As for that bet, teacher Adrian Antonini has left the school and tells the St. Petersburg Times he doesn't remember the wager.
But Antonini says he just may shave his head via a webcam to make good on the bet.
