Phillies' Lidge gets cortisone shot

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - May 17, 2010

The closer began the year on the disabled list following offseason surgery on his pitching elbow. He was examined by team doctor Michael Ciccotti on Monday. Noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews consulted on the exam.

Lidge allowed a home run in his season debut April 30 against the New York Mets. Since then, however, he had put together three consecutive scoreless innings over three appearances, capped by his first save of the season last Sunday against Atlanta.
