Accused Philly cop killer assaults lawyer in court

PHILADELPHIA - June 9, 2010

Thirty-five-year-old Eric Floyd punched attorney William Bowe two times Wednesday morning before sheriff's deputies were able to remove him from the courtroom.

Floyd had been brought back to the courtroom after a judge ordered him removed for being disruptive a day earlier. Floyd had said he would continue to be disruptive unless he was allowed to fire Bowe.

Floyd and 41-year-old Levon Warner are charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski. Investigators say they and another man were fleeing police following a bank robbery when the third man shot Liczbinski. The suspected gunman later died in a shootout with police.
