The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at Kirkwood Highway and state Route 41.
Police say the bus carrying students from Maclary Elementary School crashed into the back of the minivan. The driver, 56-year-old Helen Judefind of New Castle, was cited for following too closely.
The five students were taken to Christiana Hospital as a precaution.
