TV deal gone awry leads to Philly shooting

KENSINGTON - June 15, 2010

According to police, two men met two other men at a location about buying a 60" plasma television. After negotiations, the men decide on a price of $2,600. The two men selling the television said that the set was at their house on the 2600 block of Collins Street. So, all four men then traveled to Collins Street.

They arrived at the house shortly after midnight, and upon their arrival, three of the men went inside leaving one of the buyers outside. Once inside the two men posing as sellers pulled out guns and told the buyer to get on the floor. They then robbed him of his cell phone, keys and the $2,600 in cash.

The suspects fled the house - one drove off and the other on foot. The man outside followed the suspect on foot who turned around and shot him in the hip.

Police were able to apprehend one of the suspects driving a truck at Frankford and Lehigh Avenues. While they were taking the man into custody, police spotted the other suspect on foot. They then arrested the second suspect.

One of the suspects was identified as 36-year-old Ishmael Palmero of Trenton, New Jersey. Palmero is suspected in the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man last August. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital by a friend. He is in stable condition.
