Downingtown Area School District officials say the accident happened at about 3:50 p.m. on June 16th in Upper Uwchlan Township.
The Pickering Valley Elementary School student was taken to A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital in Delaware in critical condition.
Officials say township police and emergency personnel cared for the other children on the bus until their parents arrived.
Police are not releasing the name of the 6-year-old victim as of yet.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
On the Pickering Valley Elementary School website, a statement reads, "The Pickering Valley Elementary community is saddened by the loss of our student and express our heartfelt sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. "
The school is offering counseling services for students and families on Thursday at 10:00 am. to 3:00 p.m.
