Sixty-one-year old stroke victim Max Devries was undergoing a procedure to drain swelling in his brain.
At some point, he fell off the operating table despite being held down by three Velcro straps.
DeVries, who weighs 330 pounds, landed on the part of his head where his skull had been removed. As a result he suffered massive bleeding, went into a coma, and died a month later.
The family is suing St. Joseph's hospital for gross medical negligence.
