'Skating With the Stars' sneak peek

November 17, 2010

The same rules apply. A combination of three judges' scores and your votes will crown the champ. Only this time, the competition surface is a lot more slippery.

I had a chance to catch some of the stars in training at the rink in Los Angeles as they sharpen their very new skill.

"Want us to show you how we are going to kick some ice?" asked Olympic Gold Medalist, Jonny Moseley.

That's the "Skating with the Stars" slogan; 6 celebrities braving the blades. Including Olympic gold medal skier Jonny Moseley, who might have been a bit overconfident when he first stepped into those skates.

"I was like, 'I am the ringer here' when I came in, because I had some freestyle skiing experience. I even had some ballet skiing," said Moseley. "But when I stepped on the ice, Brooke [Castle] said it was basically like I never skated before."

Just like the other professional partners, Brooke Castile, has five weeks to work a little magic.

"The hardest part is teaching someone how to be on skates," said Brooke Castle, Moseley's partner. "It's really time and experience and we don't have that."

If you're worried about 'Dancing with the Stars' withdrawal, these celebs say you'll just flip for 'Skating.' It has all the sequins and spandex, plus the scare factor.

"It is like 'Dancing With the Stars' on steroids. Times a thousand," said Castle.

"Mostly because of the crashes," said Moseley. "There's going to be carnage!"

Moseley faces off against Real Housewife Bethanny Frankel, rocker Vince Neil, Disney actor Brandon Mychael Smith, soap star Rebecca Budig, and actress Sean Young.

'Skating with the Stars' kicks off next Monday, November 22nd at 9:00 p.m. right after the 'Dancing with the Stars' final dance show.
