Police: Pa. mom accidentally shoots 2 daughters

ALLEN, Pa. - January 10, 2011

State police tell The Sentinel of Carlisle that 50-year-old Jane Rhodes, of Monroe Township, Cumberland County, was removing a muzzleloader from the back seat of the vehicle when it discharged, striking both girls.

The 11-year-old girl was struck in the leg and her 10-year-old sister was struck in the pelvis as they tried to get into the vehicle around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

One girl was airlifted to a hospital and the other was taken by ambulance. Information on their conditions was not immediately available.

Police say the family was heading to church when the shooting happened.
