Robert Davies of North Wildwood is acting as his own lawyer. He's expected to address the jury during his opening statement Wednesday.
A public defender is on standby to back him up.
Davies is charged with the August 2007 fatal stabbing of Lavern Paul Ritch of Penarth, Wales. Prosecutors say Ritch was slain while trying to break up a fight outside a bar in Margate, just outside Atlantic City.
Ritch was a contestant on a British reality TV show, and judged to be among England's most eligible bachelors by two British publications.
