Prosecutor: NJ woman killed when train hits car

SPRING LAKE, N.J. - April 10, 2011

Nineteen-year-old Lily Seegobin of Point Pleasant was killed instantly in the accident, which happened around 9:40 p.m. Saturday in Spring Lake.

Marc LeMieux, director of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's major crimes unit, said it's not yet clear why Seegobin went around the gates. He said she was alone in the vehicle when it was struck by an eastbound coastline train.

No other injuries were reported in the incident. But train service in the area was closed for about three hours after the accident.

Authorities say Seegobin was a freshman studying in Rutgers' School of Business.
