1 hospitalized in 5 vehicle Medford crash

MEDFORD, N.J. - May 10, 2011

The accident occurred on eastbound route 70 just west of Jones Road shortly before 6:00 p.m.

The accident involved two trucks and three cars.

Police say the chain reaction crash began with a landscaping truck.

The driver of that vehicle, described only as a 47-year-old man from Southampton, Burlington County, was trapped, suffered internal injuries and was subsequently airlifted to Cooper University Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.

Two others suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The landscaping truck was toting a large container of herbicide, which ruptured, spilling approximately 200 gallons onto the roadway.

The chemical did not cause a public health concern.

The exact details of the accident have not been released.
