The arrests were announced by Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and township authorities during a news conference on Wednesday.
"There was a drug investigation operating right out of Wayne, Pennsylvania, in Tredyffrin Township and it was jeopardizing all of our children," Tredyfrrin Township Police Superintendent Andrew Chambers said.
The investigation began in November 2008, when police in Tredyffrin Township began a drug investigation into Anthony Dennis, the owner of "Heads Up" Barbershop at 932 Old Gulph Mill Road in Wayne.
Dennis, who lives on Thames Drive in Montgomery Township, Montgomery County, was under investigation along with his brother, Michael, of Philadelphia.
As the investigation continued, police also became aware of James "Twin" Adams, of Norristown, who was allegedly among the cocaine dealers being supplied by the Dennis brothers.
Investigators set up wire taps on cell phones of the three men and, on May 18th, detectives learned Anthony Dennis was to purchase 9 ounces of cocaine in order to fill orders from his customers.
Police say Samuel Marshall, identified by police as one of Dennis' source of cocaine, met Anthony Dennis at the Target store on City Avenue in Philadelphia.
Police say Marshall approached a vehicle driven by Anthony Dennis, which was in the parking lot of the Target store. Detectives arrested them, seizing 9 ounces of Cocaine from the sock of Samuel Marshall and $9,200 in cash from the vehicle driven by Anthony Dennis, along with their cell phones.
The DA went on to say that, also on May 18th, 72 law enforcement officers participated in the simultaneous raids of twenty-one locations in the three counties. Officers seized four pounds of cocaine worth more than $200,000, 14 vehicles, a fishing boat, numerous guns and cash.
"We do these cases both to put a dent in the drug trade as well as to send a message to these drug dealers that we don't want them operating in our community," Ferman said.
A total of 27 people were charged on June 14th for their involvement in this case.
