An 18-year-old who got elected to a New Jersey school board in April is in trouble with the law.

Theodore Johnson Jr. was charged Tuesday with simple assault, inciting a riot and disorderly conduct during a fight over a girl. It happened at a basketball court in Woodbury.

Two other teens face the same charges.

So does Johnson's father, 66-year-old Theodore Johnson Sr. Authorities say he joined the brawl when it appeared his son might have been losing.

Police told The Gloucester County Times the younger Johnson also backed into a parked car before he drove off. That led to a charge of assault by auto.

No one answered the phone at the Johnsons' home Thursday morning.
