Ventnor residents under a boil water advisory

VENTNOR, N.J. - July 29, 2011

A sewer line broke in the waterway near Fulton and Harvard Avenues in Ventnor.

That area is known as Ski Beach, and authorities are advising against any recreational activities such as jet skiing, kayaking, swimming or fishing there.

Secondly, the Department of Environmental Protection says shellfish from Lakes Bay, north of the Margate Bridge are contaminated and prohibited from harvesting.

Meanwhile, an unrelated problem has led to a boil water advisory in Ventnor.

Residents were breaking out the spring water for drinking.

Authorities say fecal coli form and e.coli were found in the water supply on Wednesday.

Officials have increased the amount of chlorine in the system and are awaiting follow-up test results.
