Help sought identifying body found in river

WHITEMARSH, Pa. - August 10, 2011

The body was pulled from the water around 11:20 a.m. at the Whitemarsh Boat Club at 801 Washington Street in Whitemarsh.

Police say when they arrived they were directed to a dock, where a human body was found in the water wedged underneath.

Lt. Christopher Ward of Whitemarsh Township Police explains, "There were rowers out on the river. They spotted a body floating in the river."

Montco Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele tells Action News that the victim is an "older woman" who has not been identified, and authorities are seeking help from the public.

The woman is described as a white female, 55 to 75 years old, 5 feet tall, wearing a black top, black shorts and white New Balance sneakers and wearing a gold chain with a "miraculous medal."
