Judge overturns Pa. state Sen. Mensch's conviction

READING, Pa. (AP) - October 13, 2011

Action News has confirmed Berks County Judge Thomas Eshelman dismissed Sen. Bob Mensch's summary conviction after listening to nearly two hours of testimony from the alleged victim and police.

In May, a district judge in Bernville found the Montgomery County Republican guilty after he and the other motorist provided conflicting accounts of what happened during their March 9 encounter on Interstate 78.

The alleged victim, Brian Salisbury, said Mensch displayed a black handgun. The 66-year-old Mensch denied holding a firearm and suggested that Salisbury may have mistaken his cell phone for one.
