Charles Christine, 88, and his wife, 85-year-old Betty Jane Christine, were found dead inside their Quakertown apartment around 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
Police say their daughter made the discovery inside the J building of the Quakertown West Apartments.
The body of Betty Jane Christine was found in her bed, police said.
No further details were being released.
Investigators are not yet saying what they believe precipitated the shooting or who pulled the trigger.
WFMZ-TV reports that all schools in the Quakertown Community School District were put on lockdown for about 45 minutes after the shooting was reported, said Dr. Lisa Andrejko, district superintendent.
Andrejko said the lockdown is a standard precaution taken until police can confirm that the areas around the schools are safe.
