Sketch released of suspect in Camden sex assaults

CAMDEN - February 18, 2012

Police say the sketch is based on victim descriptions of a black man aged 20 to 30, standing approximately 5'7 to 6' tall, who assaulted females ranging in age from their teens to early 20s.

All three assaults were reported in the area of Farnham Park at Park Avenue and Baird Boulevard and took place between 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The attacker was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The victims also noted he had distinctively light brown eyes. The suspect is armed and dangerous.

A fourth assault was reported but further investigation revealed that report was unfounded.

While this investigation continues, law enforcement authorities recommended women walking in the city exercise caution.

They recommend women avoid walking alone when possible.

Police say if a woman is alone, she should not wear ear buds or earphones while walking, should avoid taking shortcuts through deserted places, should stay in well-lit areas and, if it appears a person is following, she should go to the nearest home or business and contact police.

Anyone with information on the Farnham Park assaults or anyone who can identify the person in the police sketch is urged to call the hotline Camden Police have established specifically for the investigation of these assaults, (856) 757-7042.
