Pa. man admits arranging kidnapping plot in NJ

TRENTON, N.J. - February 25, 2012

Jayen Patel faces up to 20 years in federal prison when he's sentenced in June. He pleaded guilty Friday to soliciting an individual to aid in a kidnapping.

Prosecutors say the 41-year-old Southampton man used an online social networking site to contact someone he thought was a white supremacist in September 2010. But that person actually was an undercover FBI agent.

Patel claimed the child's father wanted custody of his daughter, and recommended how the kidnapping could take place. He also told the agent that those involved in the kidnapping could keep the woman as a slave when the job was done.
