22-year-old Andrew Vargas of San Francisco pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in exchange for the dropping of hit and run charges.
He will serve one year in jail.
He allegedly fled the scene outside the Giants ballpark, AT&T Park, following a game with the Phillies.
Ryan White, who is from Lower Makefield, has had three operations and will have one more.
Action News sat down with Ryan White's mother just hours after the guilty plea was entered in court.
It was tough for her to explain her emotions because of the challenges her son is still facing at home and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
He is back to doing what kids do, with his basketball under his arm and a smile on his face, 10-year-old Ryan White looks healthy, but the Yardley 4th grader is still on a long road to recovery.
"He does have his ups and downs, but he's mostly up," said Ryan's mother, Roseanne White.
Roseanne tries not to think about the hit and run that almost took her son's life as they left that Phillies game in San Francisco in August.
But she knew the driver, Andrew Vargas, would soon face his day in court.
White spoke to Action News saying she has mixed emotions about his guilty plea and the fact that he will only serve about a year in jail.
"I know he's not a bad guy, I know he's truly sorry, so I want forgive him, but at the same token the consequences from his actions have caused Ryan so much pain," Roseanne said.
He was 9 years old when Action News was at his homecoming in September, and there was a stark difference in his physical appearance between then and now.
In the past three months, Ryan has had three surgeries for his internal injuries, and he is slated for another one soon that will hopefully free him his urinary catheter and bag.
"It's very hard, because essentially Ryan is still in his own sort of jail," said Roseanne.
White says Vargas even sent an apology letter to their family about two weeks ago.
"I just haven't read it yet," Roseanne said. "I'm not ready. I just want to wait for Ryan to be better."
Ryan has not read the note either, because his parents just want him to focus on being a kid.
White says she and her husband are still trying to decide if they will send a statement or go to San Francisco to speak at the sentencing for Vargas.
Vargas will get credit for time served so he could be out of jail sometime this summer.
