Lodi Police Deputy Chief Vincent Quatrone says two brothers, ages six and 10, were apparently hit by the pole while playing in their backyard on Thursday night.
Quatrone says the 6-year-old was struck in the head and killed. The 10-year-old was injured.
Quatrone says the incident looks like a tragic accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
Quatrone says the children's parents were home at the time.
The names of the children are not being released.
