Philadelphia Police believe they are searching for an arsonist as well as a killer as the family has now been targeted twice.
50 year old Victor Guzman and his family made it out of his home uninjured after someone threw a Molotov cocktail through a window Saturday morning.
Police believe the incident has everything to do with the killing of his son last month.
Police say the firebomb was tossed somewhere around 5:30 Saturday morning at Guzman's Adam's Avenue home in Frankford. They are now watching his home around the clock.
Neighbors are a little more than concerned.
"I can tell you I feel bad about what's going on, and I don't know why it's going on, but everything needs to be stopped," said Maria Mendez.
Guzman's neighbors are on the edge because they believe someone is out to get him.
Two weeks ago, Guzman told Action News how his 26 year old son, Edwin Pagan was gunned down in front of the home in a dispute over a cigarette.
Pagan who was shot in the chest, died at Temple University Hospital. Guzman was also shot trying to save his son. Guzman was treated and later released.
"I was trying to get him in the house," said Guzman. "I had my arm around him. They shot. The bullet went right through my arm and to his back."
Detectives believe 20-year-old Jalil Cooper fired the deadly shots. He is still on the run.
They believe the firebombing and the shooting are related, but police haven't said if they think Cooper had anything to do with the Molotov cocktail that was thrown into the house.
Guzman said Saturday that he and other family members were sleeping at the time of the firebombing, but was too afraid to speak on camera.
His neighbors are thankful for the highly visible police protection.
"I think it's good that they're around for now," said Menendez. "I think it's good; just for the protection of everybody that's here and the house here."
The Corrections Union Local 159 said the firebombing was a heinous and cowardly act.
In a statement released Saturday, the union calls on the Police Commissioner and the District Attorney to conduct a full investigation and to send a clear message that the city will not tolerate attacks like this on uniformed officers.
The firebombing remains under investigation.
