2 children hospitalized after ingesting illegal drug

BANGOR, Pa. - September 25, 2012

Bangor Police are investigating whether the boys took a synthetic drug called "smiles."

The Northampton District Attorney says the boys were experiencing hallucinations Monday and sent to the nurse's office at Washington Elementary.

Bangor School Superintendent Dr. Frank DeFelice sent a warning letter to parents. He says they are cooperating with authorities

DeFelice says, "There is no evidence that indicates the substance was at any time consumed or found in any of our schools."

Both boys have since been released from the hospital.
