Lancaster announces probe of fire that killed 2

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - March 13, 2013

Mayor Rick Gray told City Council on Tuesday the city has contracted with two retired deputy fire chiefs from Philadelphia to conduct a probe of the Feb. 18 blaze and determine if anything could have been done differently.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reports the investigation will look at the Lancaster Fire Bureau's makeup, training, staffing and protocols.

Thirty-nine-year-old Pauline Stone and 6-year-old Leilani Roman were killed in the fire. Lt. Andre Kelley was badly burned after he had climbed to the second floor to try to rescue them. Two other firefighters were also hurt.
