Troopers say the incident happened at 9 p.m. Monday as a 60-year-old Newark woman was returning to her car after shopping at the Wal-Mart on Wilton Boulevard. Troopers say the woman was loading shopping bags in her car when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her purse.
The woman and the suspect struggled briefly before the man made off with the woman's purse.
The Delaware State Police say the man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.
