Man fatally shot in car in Wilmington ID'd

WILMINGTON - January 6, 2014

The shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. on the 2100 block of Washington Street.

Officers located 28-year-old Sean Dale of Wilmington who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Police say two men approached Dale and began shooting at the car, striking him.

He was a passenger inside the car when it was riddled with bullets.

The car continued northbound before crashing at the intersection of West 28th and Carter streets.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

Dale was transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital and later died.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police announced late Sunday that 28-year-old Sean Dale of Wilmington was shot Saturday evening. Police say Dale was found inside a car that had crashed at the intersection of West 28th and Carter streets. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police say according to their preliminary investigation, Dale was a passenger in the car when it was shot at. It continued northbound on Carter Street after the shooting before it crashed. Police say detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
