Unidentified man killed after more than 40 shots fired in 'targeted' Philadelphia shooting

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 24-year-old man is dead after gunmen allegedly ambushed him, firing more than 40 shots, in Philadelphia's Hunting Park section.

Police responded to the 700 block of West Lycoming Street around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday after a report of a person with a gun.

When they arrived, police found the victim shot throughout his body at close range.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say several weapons were involved, leading them to believe multiple shooters targeted the man.

Detectives don't yet know the motive.

The victim did not have any identification on him so, for now, he is considered a John Doe.
