Fatal officer-involved shooting under investigation in Haddon Township, New Jersey

HADDON TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway by the Attorney General's Office following a fatal officer-involved shooting in Haddon Township, New Jersey.
According to authorities, police responded to a 911 call regarding an attempted burglary in progress at an apartment complex located on West Crystal Lake Avenue in Westmont just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a man in the stairwell armed with a knife.
During an interaction in the stairwell, an officer fired his service weapon, striking the man.
The man was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
