LOWER MORELAND TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Several people were injured after a school bus and pickup truck collided in Lower Moreland Twp., Montgomery County.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of County Line Road and Buxmont Road.
Chopper 6 was overhead as the emergency crews worked to rescue the truck driver who was wedged under the school bus.
It took crews more than an hour to safely pull the man out of the truck. Police say he was taken to an area hospital but there was no word on his condition.
Officials said an "activity bus" was transporting Lower Moreland Township School District students at the time of the crash.
Police say at least one student suffered minor injuries.
"As some may be aware, one of our activity buses was involved in an accident this evening while completing the late bus run. Fortunately, the bus was largely empty at the time of the accident, with only a few of our students on the bus," the school district said in a statement.
School counselors will be available for students on Friday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The road will likely remain closed for several more hours.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Lower Moreland Township Police Department.
