GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- A campus alert sent to Rowan University students reported a second sexual assault on campus.
This incident occurred over the weekend.
The university says, "While in Holly Pointe Commons, the female student engaged in a conversation with a male student who she met in the elevator, and then went to his room in that building. She eventually fell asleep, but then was awoken while being sexually assaulted."
"It's a little scary. I don't live in the dorms, but it's the second one we've gotten this year," senior Allison Murphy said.
Last month, another student claimed she remembered waking up in a room in the same dorm as she was being sexually assaulted.
She had apparently walked back with a "college-aged male" from an off-campus party, where she'd been drinking.
27-year-old freshman Jen Galanek candidly tells Action News she's been a victim, too. She says her encounter pre-dates college, but today's alert is personal.
"It's very hard to get over. It happened a couple years ago, and it still hits home hearing about it," Galanek said.
The university hasn't said if either incident is connected and have no suspect description.
"I think there are probably a lot more that go unreported," junior Joshua Weinberg said.
Many students we spoke with say they do feel safe on campus and are hoping both incidents are isolated.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact campus police.
