Fiery crash injures driver in Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA, N.J. (WPVI) -- A motorist is hospitalized after a fiery crash in Buena Vista, New Jersey.

It happened after 4:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 54 near Weymouth Road.

Police say a driver lost control and crashed into a tree, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.

The motorist was trapped and had to be extricated by rescue crews.

Medics airlifted the victim to an area hospital with injuries said to be serious.

Traffic was shut down on Route 54 for several hours as police investigated and crews worked to clear the scene.
