SKOKIE, Ill. (WPVI) -- Adaku Ukah, 39, has received additional charges in the death of an 8-year-old disabled boy in Skokie, police said.
The boy was hospitalized March 25 after sustaining severe burns while being placed in bath water, police said. The child later died as a result of the burns on April 20, and an autopsy ruled the death accidental.
Ukah was initially charged with criminal neglect of a disabled person by a caregiver on March 27 when the child was hospitalized. A grand jury indicted her Monday on additional charges of involuntary manslaughter, endangering the life of a child and reckless conduct.
Bond for Ukah was set at $25,000 and her next court date is May 11.
