After more than 12 years, four Tony awards and a Pulitzer Prize, the curtain will come down for the last time this June on the Broadway musical "Rent."

The acclaimed musical chronicle of counterculture life and death in Manhattan's East Village is a rock-inflected reinterpretation of the Puccini opera "La Boheme." It will be the seventh-longest-running Broadway show in history when it closes June 1st.

The musical has grossed more than $280 million on Broadway and $330 million more in productions elsewhere. It led to a 2005 movie and fostered the careers of actors including Taye Diggs and Jesse L. Martin.

The New York Times reports co-producer Jeffrey Seller says ticket sales slowed noticeably in the fall.
