Waters were chummed before fatal shark attack

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - February 25, 2008

Bloody fish parts were scattered to attract the predators during a commercial dive, yesterday. The U.S. Coast Guard says 49-year-old Markus Groh was bitten on the leg. The Vienna lawyer died today at the hospital.

On its Web site, the company running the dive says it offers "face to face" meetings with sharks. It says it chums waters and that the divers are not sent down in cages, instead they have "open water experiences."

Police are investigating the attack. The shark swam away before anyone could tell what species it was.
