Fire Destroys Dairy Barn

MIDDLETOWN, Del. - June 16, 2008

Middletown Fire Department was dispatched to Emerson Dairy Farms, in the 1000 block of Jamison Corner Road at about 1:30 Monday afternoon.

The fire started in a working dairy barn. There was one person working in the barn at the time. He noticed smoke and with the help of others, was able to get the cows out of the barn.

Reportedly about half of the farms herd of 180 cows, was in the barn at the time. The barn was completely destroyed and collapsed. Emerson Dairy Farms was established in 1947.
