Delaware State Police say a Lewes woman is dead after being ejected from her out-of-control car, which was hit by a large truck. About 7 a.m., police say 29-year-old Megan Hammel lost control of her car on Indian Mission Road near Hollymount Road.

Thirty-five-year-old Darwin Menendez of Milford was driving the six-wheeled truck near Harbeson when he hit Hammel's car. During the crash, police say she was thrown from the vehicle; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Hammel was wearing her seat belt and police say alcohol is not a factor.

Police don't plan to charge Menendez in the accident. He was treated and released at a local hospital.
