NJ man jailed for hoax 911 calls

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - January 16, 2010

Michael Barrett was sentenced Friday to an 87-month term and told to pay $47,960 in restitution. And when the 20-year-old Mount Holly man is freed from prison, he will have to serve three years of supervised release.

Barrett pleaded guilty last October to a three-count information that charged him with aiding and abetting bank robberies.

Prosecutors say he made 911 calls to police just before two accomplices robbed banks in Maple Shade, Medford and Cherry Hill during September and October 2008.

One accomplice has pleaded guilty to bank robbery charges and will be sentenced next month. The third person has not been charged, though the investigation is continuing.
