Republican Daryl Metcalfe from Butler County says he wants to give police officers the authority to question anyone whom they suspect of being in the U.S. illegally.
Metcalfe also wants tougher penalties for those found to be smuggling people into the country illegally and he wants to crack-down on employers who do not verify the status of their employees.
In Arizona, at least two cities are challenging the new law there. Both Phoenix and Tucson filed lawsuits trying to block it.
