Police on Thursday charged 51-year-old Siegfried Moore with killing two people a week apart in the city's Logan neighborhood.
Homicide Capt. James Clark says Moore fatally stabbed 19-year-old Devaughn Smith on August 4 and killed 53-year-old coin-operated laundry owner Huan Mo a week later. Clark says the motive in both slayings was robbery.
Police say Smith was able to turn the knife on Moore, inflicting a wound that forced the suspect to visit a hospital on August 16. Officers searched Moore's home and found bloodstained clothing and a bloody knife they say are linked to the attacks.
Moore is being held without bail. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
