Police impersonators sought for home invasion

BEAR, Del. - September 21, 2010

It happened around 7:25 a.m. Tuesday in the unit block of Regent Drive in Bear, Delaware.

It all began when the two women inside the home heard a knock at the front door. When they looked outside, they saw two men who were wearing what appeared to be county police slacks and claiming to be police officers.

Once the victims allowed the police impersonators to enter, they accosted and bound the women before locating a purse with cash inside.

After taking the cash, the suspect fled leaving the victims still bound inside the home.

The women were eventually able to free themselves and call 911, but by the time officers arrived the suspects had fled the area.

Police released a sketch of one of the suspects on Tuesday. He is described as a white male, 30-35 years old, standing 6'0"-2", weighing 180 pounds and had blue eyes.

The second suspect was described as a white male about the same height and slightly heavier.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the New Castle County Police Department at 302-395-8110 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
