The release was reported around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at a facility, located on the 3300 block on N. Delaware Avenue. The facility is believed to be Kinder Morgan, an energy company operating a large network of natural gas and refined petroleum product pipelines.
Initial reports indicate 850 gallons of Cumene were released into a containment dike while off loading from a vessel to the tank.
Cumene is a colorless, flammable liquid with a gasoline type odor. It's normally used as a thinner for paints, lacquers and enamels.
The incident was placed under control shortly after 11:00 a.m.
Because the Cumene fell into the containment dike, officials say there is no risk of exposure.
There has been no word of any injuries resulting from the liquid release.
