Giants lose, Eagles clinch NFC East

PHILADELPHIA - December 26, 2010

How did this happen? Simple. The New York Giants lost to the Green Bay Packers 45-17.

In order for the Eagles to clinch the NFC East Sunday, they either had to defeat the Minnesota Vikings or have the Giants lose. Since the Giants came up on the losing end of their game, the Eagles automatically have won the NFC East division.

Earlier in the day, the NFL postponed the Eagles-Vikings game to Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. due to the nor'easter that is engulfing the region.

The Giants could not rebound after their loss to the Eagles last week in what is being referred to as the "Miracle in the New Meadowlands." The Eagles scored 28 points in the final 7:18 and beat New York 38-31.

On a side note, the last NFL game played on a Tuesday was in 1946. The New York Giants won that game.
