Forty-two-year-old Brian Henderson apologized to Maria Albers-Cosme's family on Monday as he was ordered to spend up to 40 years in prison. Henderson pleaded guilty last week to killing Albers-Cosme on Nov. 17, 2009, in the home they shared in Reading.
Henderson had told police Albers-Cosme's death was an accident. Defense attorney Timothy Bilcliff told the Reading Eagle his client had taken responsibility for his actions.
Albers-Cosme's family declined comment after the hearing.
