Designer home goods for less in Colmar

Michael Dornblum shows me a sofa that was custom-made for a Rittenhouse Square penthouse.

It was supposed to curve to the left. It was made curving to the right. So instead of the original price of $2499, it's selling for $1299 at Stuff Closeout and Consignment, a home store that opened in Colmar earlier this month.

Dornblum explains, "We go to high-end vendors and boutiques and we find things that they need to place. They could be canceled orders, or stores that went out of business, or a designer has a piece that they didn't have a fit for. Really, reallly high-quality product and we're, we're giving it away."

Well, not quite. But the discounts are significant. You can also get a deal on a sofa that was not the color the decorator ordered. Iinstead of the original $1995 retail price, it's $890.

Even pieces that weren't mistakes are discounted.

A dining table that was originally $1075, is on sale for $499. Lamps that were $299, are $189. And there are home accent and accessory pieces at similar discounts.

The store takes consignments from individuals as well.

Dornblum explains, "We will scrutinize those. We really only want the better quality things."

Stuff is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It's located at 927 Bethlehem Pike on Route 309, about 3.5 miles north of Montgomery Mall. The phone number at the store is 215-487-1515.
